This mud painting on ice is such a fun & messy activity for summer!
It’s currently July in the mid west & it is HOT – HOT – HOT! I wanted something I could set up quickly outside that would actually keep my kids attention for a while. This ended up doing the trick!
I do want to say that if your kids are like mine – they will definitely be messy after this one! Make sure they’re wearing clothes that are ok to get dirty.
Here is everything you’ll need:
- Ice
- Dirt
- Water
- Paint brushes
- Tray for ice
- Bucket for mud
Directions:
- Collect your dirt!
2. Mix in a small amount of water – it doesn’t take much of it to make mud.
3. Add ice cubes to a shallow tray.
4. Hand your kids some paint brushes & let them go to town!
5. Once they were finished painting everything – they decided to dive in with their hands!
This was definitely their favorite part of the activity! So much sensory fun.
6. If everything hasn’t melted yet – you can rinse them off and start again! We got 2 uses out of our ice cubes, just depends on the temperature outside!
Reasons why I love this activity:
- It’s an outdoor activity! Our family loves all things outdoors.
- Minimal supplies – I already had everything at home.
- It’s loads of sensory fun! I don’t usually set up sensory bins – but I’m starting to think that I should!
