How beautiful is this rainbow lantern?! My kids & I made these in the spring and enjoyed them all summer long. They’re super easy to make, let me show you how.
Joke of the day: What type of bow cannot be tied? A rainbow!
Materials:
- Glass or plastic jar
- Tissue paper cut into small squares
- Mod podge (slightly watered down glue works too!)
- Paint brush
- Fairy lights (or a battery powered tea light)
- Blow dryer to speed up dry time (optional)
Directions:
- Apply one layer of mod podge to the entire jar.
- Add your tissue paper squares on top of the mod podge.
3. Add a layer of mod podge to the top of the tissue paper squares. This will seal everything.
4. Allow everything to dry. This took roughly an hour. You could always speed up the dry time using a blow dryer.
5. Put your favorite lights inside & watch your creation glow!

FAQ’S:
- Will the tissue paper peel off? Ours are a year old now & the tissue paper hasn’t budged.
- Will the heat from the lights make the glue melt off? Nope! We used fairy lights & haven’t had an issue.
- Are these water proof? Can they be outside? Yes! The mod podge will seal everything. They can go outside, but make sure you have a cover over the lights. I wouldn’t set your lights out in the rain.
