Rubber Band Painting

rubber band painting

Hear me out – this craft is a little messy – but SO much fun! Rubber band painting gives a different result every time – the results are so cool to see!

I recommend you do this craft outside or on a well covered table. Your kids fingers will have paint on them too so be ready to wash them when you’re done!

Materials you’ll need:

  1. White paper cut into a square
  2. Colored paper cut into a slightly larger square than the white (optional)
  3. Paint
  4. Rubber bands
  5. Paint brush
  6. Shallow dish
  7. Glue

Directions:

  1. Place your white paper into your shallow dish & wrap rubber bands around the dish.

2. Paint on to each rubber band! I did this part for my 4 year old. The more paint you add the more splatting there will be.

3. Let your kids have fun snapping the rubber bands! There’s no method here – just have fun :)

4. Let everything dry.

5. Glue your art work onto your colored sheet of paper – this step is optional, I just think it makes everything pop!

6. You’re finished! These would make adorable cards but are also gorgeous hanging on the fridge!

Reasons why I love this craft:

  • It’s process art – there are no rules!
  • My kids love love love all things messy – so this was a hit.
  • I already had the supplies at home.
  • My kids are strengthening their fine motor skills while pulling back the rubber bands.
