Sponge Printed Tulips

Sponge Printed Tulips

If you haven’t tried sponge painting, today is the day! These sponge printed tulips were the perfect craft for my younger kids, they all loved it!

Did you know: There are thousands of varieties of tulips. Over 3,500 named varieties exist today, and they are organized into 15 groups. I never knew that!

Supplies needed for sponge printed tulips:

  1. White sheet of paper
  2. 1 sponge
  3. Paint
  4. Paint brush
  5. Blue & purple paper (or any other colors)
  6. Glue

I hope you love this craft as much as we do!

Directions:

  1. Take your sponge & cut your tulips out of it. To do this I drew my tulip outline with a marker on the sponge and went from there. I was able to do 2 tulips per sponge.
    • Tip: For smaller hands you could hot glue a wine cork to the back of the tulip sponge for easy grasping.

2. Lightly dip your sponge into your paint. You could also apply the paint with a paint brush.

3. Gently press your sponge down on your white sheet of paper.

4. Give each tulip a green stem using your paint brush & paint.

5. Create your vase using your blue paper & attach to your flowers with glue.

6. Glue your design onto a slightly larger sheet of purple paper. You’re finished!

We absolutely love using sponges to paint. Each one comes out with a unique texture and they’re great for little hands.

FAQ’S:

  • Are the sponges reusable? Yes! Just rinse with water when you’re finished & allow them to dry. You can use them over and over again.
  • How long does this take to dry? It depends on how thick you put your paint down. Ours took roughly 30 minutes to totally dry. You can speed things up with a blow dryer though!
