Bleeding Tissue Paper Fireworks

bleeding tissue paper fireworks

If you haven’t tried painting with tissue paper – this is your sign to try it now! These bleeding tissue paper fireworks are such a fun craft for 4th of July.

Here is everything you’ll need:

  1. 1 sheet white cardstock paper
  2. 1 sheet blue cardstock paper
  3. White crayon
  4. Tissue paper – cut into small squares
  5. Paint brush
  6. Water
  7. Glue

Directions:

  1. Use your white crayon to draw fireworks on your white sheet of paper. You will be able to see what you’re drawing if you have good lighting above you.

2. Cover your white paper in a thin layer of water. I used a paint brush to apply ours.

3. Lay your tissue paper all over your paper!

4. Add another thin layer to the top.

5. Let everything completely dry.

6. Peel off all the tissue paper to reveal your fireworks! So much fun to make :)

7. Glue onto a sheet of blue cardstock to make everything pop! (Black would look awesome too)

Reasons why I love this craft:

  • I pre drew the crayon part for my kids and let them do the rest – they loved seeing what was under the tissue paper!
  • It’s a multi process craft – which my kids love!

I love this tissue paper project but I have tried it twice and the color of the tissue paper is not coming off on the cardstock. Can you give me any suggestions. It’s just plain cardstock and plain tissue paper from Walmart. Thanks so much.

Oh no! I think it’s the tissue paper. I didn’t realize when I posted this that some tissue paper will bleed and some will not. I purchased mine from Hobby Lobby, and once from Dollar General. Both times it worked. I hope this helps!
