Dad Coffee Mug

dad coffee mug

Father’s Day crafts are always a favorite at our house. My kids love creating all sorts of things to give to their dad, they’re always so proud! I thought this Dad coffee mug would be a hit!

Their dad doesn’t drink coffee much. But we thought this would be cute to put on his work bench. He can store his extra nuts & bolts in there instead!

Here is everything you’ll need:

  1. A coffee mug – we picked up ours at Walmart for $1
  2. Paint – Enamel or oil based paint is best. We ended up using acrylic just because we knew Dad wasn’t going to be drinking out of it. Acrylic is a bit thicker – oil based paint will give you a smoother & more shiny look.
  3. Stickers
  4. An oven

Directions:

  1. Take your blank coffee mug and put your stickers on! I picked our stickers up from the dollar tree.

2. Paint away! However they choose to decorate it – makes it perfect.

3. Remove your stickers. I used a toothpick to loosen up an edge, and peeled the rest up using my fingers. (I did this part for my kids).

4. Line a pan with tin foil and place your mug in the oven. 300 degrees fahrenheit for 30 minutes.

5. You can always add a clear coat to the outside too!

6. You’re finished!

Reasons why I love this craft:

  • There is total freedom for my kids to paint however they’d like!
  • Handmade gifts are extra special <3
  • Their dad will keep this on his work bench for years to come.
